I think the North Dakota State University athletic department has secretly acquired the Forum newspaper sports department. Seriously, the Forum's coverage of the NDSU football team this year makes me wonder if they are just printing NDSU press releases instead of doing their own reporting.
Here's the most recent example. Talk about a "no shit" story. Obviously NDSU will not play in a bowl game because FCS (formerly Division I-AA) teams don't compete for bowl bids. Now, I realize NDSU has a good football team this year. Their victory over Minnesota truly was a complete win. However, they will not be playing in any postseason games because they haven't been a DI team for the past five seasons. I can't help but get the impression that the Forum is playing an active role in finding any way possible for the Bison to play a game after the regular season. After all, I'm they could print up some kind of a special section and sell more newspapers.
Anyway, this story is the latest in a series of pro-Bison propaganda coming from the Forum. Columnist Mike McFeely has been leading the charge. He'd be a strong candidate for Fargo's biggest Bison fan.
P.S. I'm writing this as a former newspaper reporter. Not as someone who hates NDSU football (although I do).
On an unrelated note, we've changed the look of this blog a few times. Anyone have any thoughts on which look was the best?
