Suing bad bosses?

Here's an interesting article on bad bosses. Obviously, there are some very real horror stories about abusive and terrible bosses. However, there is on element to this news story that really scares me. Should state legislatures enact laws that allow employees to essentially sue a boss because he or she is bad?

I don't think so. For every valid cause of action, there will be five or six ridiculous ones. Bosses have a target on their backs. The nature of their position of authority opens the door for resentment among people who are lower on the totem pole. Now, I'm not saying it's acceptable to be an asshole or overly demanding boss. We've all had on of those. I just think people would use laws like the proposed legislation in ways that it's not intended to be used. Yes, it's up to the courts to decide if a lawsuit is or is not valid, but at the same time the time spent throwing out a frivolous suit would be better spent on a more worthy cause.

You know, I think suing a bad boss is a ridiculous idea. Now, suing for certain legitamte things such as abuse, be it sexual or not are fine. But a line has to be drawn somewhere. Just because your boss is a jerk, doesn't mean you should sue them. We already have enough retarded law suits as is.

Now, I do offer a solution. I currently work with a supervisor who's a complete ass to both regular employees, and other supervisors alike. My solution? We should inact a law that allows you to take a couple swings at him, and not be held accountable. It should be something like if they don't have to go to the hospital, then you don't have any legal action taken against you. But in the case of this supervisor, I'd probably just put him in the Hospital!!!
