I don't know about anyone else out there, but this story seems to be a little slanted. While it may be true that girls are outperforming boys in high school and college (You go girls!), I doubt that messy backpacks are the reason for this trend.
Sounds to me like Ms. Homayoun is one of those uberorganized neat freaks that everyone hates. Is it honestly worth a student's time to make a binder like the ones modeled after what she made in high school? No, it's not. There's a difference between being organized and being a perfectionist about being organized. Being a perfectionist about being organized is a waste of time that should be spent studying. Also, one person's study tactics do not necessarily work for everyone.
Furthermore, it appears the examples of male students used in this story are not only unorganized, they are either stupid, slackers or both. Honestly, who forgets to fill out an entire college application (to the University of Virginia no less ... ha)? Who doesn't know that you are supposed to turn your homework in when you are the seventh grade? Are you kidding me?
I'm about as unorganized as you can be sometimes and I turned out alright. I happen to be very good at multitasking as well. Maybe I'm an anomaly. Thoughts?
