In the boring stuper that is currently my life, I have had plenty of time to read. And luckily for the few of you that stumble across this site, you have the pleasure of hearing about the recent books i've been delving into. I recently just finished "Self-Made Man" by Norah Vincent. It was very interesting and the complete opposite of what I thought it'd be and identical to my initial thoughts all at once. Does that make sense?
The author basically dresses up as a man for a year and a half to gain a better understand of manlihood. (this is another cool book since we're on the subject.) Anyway, as you might expect, the author herself is a lesbian. I feel this is important to state because she doesn't have any sexual feelings that might interfere with her research. After she becomes a he (and goes by the name of Ned) he puts himself in various social situations to interact with males. He ends up joining a bowling team, staying in a monestary, and even goes camping with an all male club. It is a really good book, and I recommend it to anyone, male or female. She has some very interesting thoughts on why men act the way we do. Anyway, check it out for yourselves. peace.
